Find a Lactation Care Provider

Types of Lactation Care Providers

CLC

A Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) has completed 52 hours of training and passed a certification exam. CLCs may carry malpractice insurance but are not covered by insurance reimbursement.

IBCLC

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) has completed 90 hours of training, 300-1000 hours of clinical practice, extensive health science coursework, and passed a certification exam. IBCLCs carry malpractice insurance and are covered by insurance reimbursement.

Both IBCLCs and CLCs are trained to help with a wide variety of lactation challenges.

*Some lactation support providers will offer a sliding scale fee if you do not have insurance coverage.
